What does JLGB mean to you?
To me, JLGB is a passionate and values-driven organisation committed to providing young people across our community with the opporuntity to grow and develop. Through our range of youth work programmes we offer a supportive environment that enables all those we work with to become the best versions of themselves—giving them the skills, knowledge and experiences to be the leaders of tomorrow.
Why are you excited to work for JLGB?
My working life has been focused on delivering and leading quality programmes for young people across a range of organisations. Here at JLGB, the range of programmes on offer, alongside the staff and volunteer team who make it all happen, are truly amazing. What really excites me is being able to use my experience to support and develop our team, directing their skills and passion, alongside raising the next generation of JLGB volunteer leaders through our young leader training building the foundations for the future.
What is your favourite JLGB moment?
The last night of our fabulous Summer Camp always fills me with joy. Witnessing hundreds of young people, young leaders, and volunteers dressed up to the nines, dancing the night away, enjoying themselves, smiling, laughing with friends, and making memories for a lifetime is a great snapshot of all the work we do.
Tell us about your role within JLGB
As Director of Programmes and Participation, I oversee all aspects of JLGB’s programming, from local group delivery to international tours, national camps, the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, and beyond. I lead and support our staff and volunteer teams, ensuring we have the resources to successfully deliver on our mission and strategic plans.
Working collaboratively as part of the leadership team and alongside the Chief Executive, with the support of our Board of Trustees, I help to strengthen JLGB’s governance and foundations. I take a particular lead on safety, safeguarding, and reporting to external funders, ensuring transparency and accountability in all that we do.
