We pride ourselves on being here to give all young Jewish people a safe space to be themselves, plus a wealth of experiences and opportunities to be the very best version of themselves they can be and a force for positive change in the world. We run weekly groups across the UK, annual camps and tours and offer the opportunity for Jewish young people to take part in national awards and volunteering opportunities that many would otherwise not be able to participate in.

...making friends

At local weekly groups, or on our annual camps or tours, young people have been making friends that last lifetimes for as long as JLGB has been around. And that’s a long time! Being with others your age, who care about the same things you do, and who share your faith and culture, is a huge part of the JLGB experience. In an isolating age, we prioritise activities that foster and encourage lasting friendships.

We know the pressure there is on young people. Everywhere you turn there’s another image, another message telling you to be this way or that. The world is changing and young people’s voices are powerful, so who do you want to be? JLGB is a journey of discovery, a place to be yourself, try out all the things you can be and do in this life. At whatever age you join, your weekly groups, with friends, coaches, and mentors who care about you, will set you on a great path. You could make your own podcast, learn to manage your money, or even first aid that saves a life… where you take your skills and confidence is up to you!

Young Jewish people are not just the future of this country, we believe you can be a powerful force for change right now. With JLGB, however old you are, you’ll have the opportunity to make the world around you a better place. Every day, young people on the JLGB journey are putting smiles on the faces of older people, making their local towns and cities better places to be, supporting refugees and families in poverty, and much more! From the Yoni Jesner Award to National Citizen Service, we make it possible for every young Jewish person to volunteer through our pioneering evolve youth volunteering & skills initiative.

We believe that all young people need independence and freedom to find their way in the world. That’s why we make sure every young person can have their share of adventure. JLGB’s unique position in British Jewish society means you can get out into the world without compromising the religious and cultural life that’s so important to our community and its values. All our experiences are kosher and Sabbath-friendly, so you can achieve your Duke of Edinburgh’s Award with us, go wild on Spring, Summer and Winter Camps, take trips across the country and tour around Israel or Poland.

From trumpet player to CEO, youth coach to social entrepreneur, everyone’s leadership journey begins with someone believing in you. JLGB treats every young Jewish person as a potential future leader. Everything we do provides opportunities to step up to a new challenge, but it’s our accredited leadership training courses that set JLGB apart. Every year we run two weekend courses for young people aged 14 – 18 with modules covering organisational skills, youth leadership, team-working, safeguarding and more. Artist? Engineer? Musician? Politician? Comedian? Teacher? Nurse? Start your journey with JLGB and whoever and whatever you want to be, we’ll help you make it happen. JLGB’s accredited courses and DofE provision are designed to give you a head-start in life. Voluntary work is not just good for you and others, it’s great for your CV too! Whatever your interest, you can get recognised for working at it with us, and gain transferable skills that employers are increasingly looking for. For 125 years, young Jewish people have gone on to great things after finishing their journey with JLGB. Our long history means you can benefit from that wider network of people ready to offer mentoring and work experience to their younger counterparts who are just starting out!

JLGB is the only Jewish organisation to be able to offer every young person who wants to, the opportunity to learn a musical instrument, regardless of background, experience or ability to pay. We have four music centres around the country offering free weekly lessons, instruments for hire, plenty of opportunities to perform, and our once a year band camp extravaganza that gets all the JLGB bands from across the UK together. Be a songwriter, conductor, musician, or singer – there’s room on the stage for everyone!
