Volunteering Sign Up Gains 100's of Students
The Jewish Lads’ & Girls’ Brigade (JLGB) in partnership with JVN (Jewish Volunteer Network) recently held four very successful Volunteer Fairs at Jewish schools in London for students in Year 12. Over 500 students attended the fairs at their schools and have signed up for their chosen volunteering opportunity.
The schools taking part were King Solomon High School, JFS, Immanuel College and Hasmonean High School for Girls.
For many years the JLGB and JVN have encouraged Jewish young people of all ages to take some time out to volunteer in their school, youth movements and in the community. The JLGB ensures that their volunteering is recognised through JLGB Volunteering Awards and this year we have added vinspired accreditation.
22 organisations from the Jewish and wider community have all benefitted from the fairs and have signed up many young volunteers for their causes.
Eva Burke from Youth Aliyah Child Rescue said: “I have just returned from JFS and congratulations on organizing this brilliant event! It was my first of event of this type and I thought that it was extremely well organized, introduced and helpful in terms of follow-up.”
Rodney Ross, the JLGB’s Volunteering Manager said: "To see the interest and enthusiasm of the students at all the schools & the way the participating organisations engaged them was brilliant. I feel certain that the Jewish and wider communities will benefit greatly from their willingness to help other. It really shows that young people DO care about volunteering."
