David Dangoor was born in New York in 1948, but actually grew up in Iraq, and has gone on to become one of the leading philanthropists in the British Jewish community. David is the son of Sir Naim Dangoor, an incredibly successful Iraqi Business man who was forced to rebuild his life in the UK with his family after losing his citizenship due to Iraqi state-antisemitism. Starting from scratch, the Dangoor family set about creating the infrastructure for a vibrant Iraqi Jewish community here in the UK

Once in the UK, David studied at Carmel College, and then Imperial College London before he set about working at IBM, and then later joining his father’s property business. Now a significant leader in our community, David is a passionate advocate for inter-community and interfaith relations, seeking to improve the relationship between Jews and Arabs, and Jews and Muslims, throughout the world.

His tireless work led him to get an honorary degree from Bar-Ilan University in Israel, and to be recognised by our own community through his positions in the JLC and as the former Vice President of S&P Sephardi, and in wider society as chair of the Lord Lieutenant of Greater London’s Council on Faith.

As Exilarch of the Exilarch Foundation and through Dangoor Education, he has overseen important investment in education and innovation both in the UK and Israel, including major support for JLGB.  So we are of course thrilled and excited he has agreed to join us tonight.

Ladies and gentleman, please welcome our very special guest, David Dangoor!

For over 125 years, young Jewish people have been discovering just how brilliant they can be and how they can make the world a better place through JLGB. Whether you're 8 or 18, whatever you want to be, join in and be your best self with us!
